We believe in the open source community and believe that WordPress should be available to all.
Unfortunately premium plugin and theme authors refuse to decouple support from the code, they won’t set regional price differences and they rarely offer discounts to students, low waged or the young.
We are providing a third way by redistributing the code without any unneeded extras.
All WordPress items such as plugins and themes are licensed under the General Public Licence (GPL).
This means that once we have purchased the item we are free to redistribute it if we choose to do so.
Your membership to our site goes towards maintaining and buying the subscriptions to 3rd party theme and plugin authors. This form of crowd funding helps keep prices low and we can then pass this benefit on to you.
Our ‘about us’ page explains things in more detail.
We have low prices, every day. The price difference between buying plugins from AbTheme vs. buying them individually runs into thousands and thousands of dollars.
So, we don’t offer coupons, membership cards and discounts because the savings are already factored into the price you pay.
We’re also not going to get into the game some sites play where they jack their prices up by 20% and then run a never ending promotion, pretending to offer you a discount that in reality doesn’t exist. We think that’s kind of sketchy and we don’t need cheap tricks to gain your custom. We just provide an already discounted, flat rate subscription and provide you with an honest, decent and effective service.
Note:
If you have landed here from a coupon or other promo style website and are wondering why the discount code won’t work – please be aware that these sites will sometimes cause confusion by offering coupon codes for AbTheme that don’t exist. We have no affiliation with these sites and their offers are misleading.
If, in the future, we do decide to offer a deal, then it will be for existing subscribers only, and available only via our newsletter.
Technical support is not included. This means that if you install a plugin or theme and it doesn’t work in the way that you think it should, then you will need to either purchase the product directly from the author (a link is provided on each product page) or you will need to hire a freelancer to take a look for you. Alternatively, you could ask around some of the helpful WordPress community forums.
Not offering support is the way in which we are able to offer the products at the discounted price.
We do however, offer full support for our own updater plugin and will deal with any billing queries immediately.
Yes, 100%. We have active subscriptions to the authors of the products featured on our website.
We download from them and redistribute to you.
As many as you like. The plugins and themes are GPL licenced so you can use them as often as you like on as many sites as you like.
Got a friend who’s building a site? Go share them with your friend. Seriously, there are no catches.
Yes. As soon as we are notified about an update, we go and download it from the author and update it on our site.
There’s a simple, easy and time saving way to update any plugin or theme courtesy of Chris Jean, the name behind iThemes.
*NEW* You can now update your sites using our own API plugin. No more manual downloads!
An item I downloaded is asking for a registration code. What to do?
Ignore it. Developers include these so that the plugin or theme can update automatically or so that you can register for support. The item itself will work perfectly fine without anything being entered in the box.
If it’s GPL licensed then we can try and get it! Drop us a line by using the widget in the bottom right hand corner of your screen and let us know what item you would like adding to our directory.
We try and bring new items into the site each month based on how many users are requesting the item.
You can upgrade at any time. Unfortunately, the process isn’t as simple as we would like it to be (we’re working on it!)
In order to do so, please cancel your existing monthly subscription, and once it has expired, re-subscribe to our service by going back through the checkout.
We currently offer monthly and annual subscriptions. The longer you subscribe the bigger the discount we can offer. You can currently save a massive 50% by choosing an annual subscription over a monthly plan.
Are there any restrictions on the number of downloads?
Unfortunately, we’ve had to take another look at this because we felt the fair use policy was being abused.
The limit is 20 per user/per day.
Sure. Under the GPL license, you’re free to keep them if you want.
The only thing to be aware of is that if you want access to any future updates then you’ll need to have an active subscription with us.
No. Sorry, we’re going to have to be a little hard on this one.
The nature of digital media means that once you have downloaded a plugin or theme there’s really no way to ‘return’ it.
If you think you might have some doubts then why not just subscribe for a month before committing to a longer subscription?
Of course. You’re not locked into anything. You can cancel your subscription by logging into the members area and visiting the subscriptions link.
If you have any problems then let us know and we’ll be happy to cancel it for you. No questions asked.
Because all items are GPL licensed it’s extremely unlikely there is one. Also, we only use the names of products nominatively as a way of identifying one item from another and clearly emphasize on our website that no items on this site are endorsed or sponsored by any trademark holder.
Nonetheless, please use our contact form to highlight any concerns and we’ll be happy to work with you.
No worries! – just click the beacon in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen and choose your option.
Don’t see the beacon? Make sure that it’s not being blocked by a browser ad-block extension.
